Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)
About MIC :
Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has established an ‘Innovation cell’ with a purpose of systematically fostering the culture of Innovation in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country.
MIC will focus on creating complete ecosystem which will foster the culture of Innovation across all educational institutions from ideas generation to pre-incubation, incubation and graduating from the incubator as successful start-ups. MIC will also work on designing ranking system to identify institutions in the forefront of innovation.
Ministry of Education has established ‘MoE’s Innovation Cell’ with the mandate to work closely with our Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to encourage the creative energy of our student population to work on new ideas and innovation and promote them to create start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures.

About IIC :
The Ministry of Education (MoE) through MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC) launched the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) program in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in educational institutions.
Primarily, IIC’s role is to engage large number of faculty, students, and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship related activities such as Ideation, Problem Solving, Proof of Concept Development, Design Thinking, IPR, project handling and management at Pre-Incubation/Incubation stage, etc., so that innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem gets established and stabilized in HEIs.

“Develop a mechanism with required infrastructure that can enable students and faculty to innovate and prototype their invention with support from the Government, industry and academic institutions”
Objectives :
- To encourage innovation and entrepreneurship within the institute.
- Establish and nurture ecosystem for scouting ideas and provide support for their implementation.
- Provide support and guidance for converting ideas into patents, copyrights.
- Provide start-up supporting mechanism for student’s projects and innovative ideas from students and faculty.
